Engagement structure and pricing

We organise our longer engagements on a per-project basis: this is safer for both parties and means that you will never be hit with cost overruns or scope creep. Once we've sat down and agreed on a price and scope of work, you pay half the agreed sum upfront, and the remaining half on completion of the project.

For shorter engagements, we offer defined-time offerings at a fixed cost: you can read more about these below.

Fixed-time engagements

Two hours

$600 NZD + GST

We'll sit down with you (and if we're doing this in person, we'll even bring coffee and cake), talk through your problem, help you gain clarity around what you need to do next and build an operational plan for you to execute on.

This is ideal for those situations where you know you need to make a decision or change something in your business infrastructure, but you lack clarity as to what.

Two days

$5000 NZD + GST

We'll review relevant sections of your codebase and infrastructure, then sit down and pair program with one of your engineers for two four hour sessions (any more than this is unhealthy and unproductive) to solve an infrastructure problem that you or your company has.

This is an excellent option if you have a specific technical problem that you wish to make progress on, especially one that you don't have specialist knowledge in. It's also excellent if you wish to build something more complex and cannot or do not wish to bring in an expert for the whole project, but want to make sure the foundations are correct and that you've started off in the right direction.

Two weeks

$25,000 NZD + GST

We'll review your codebase and infrastructure in-depth, then pair program with your team for two weeks, implementing a feature or a small project, testing it, documenting it and handing it off.

This is an excellent option if you're working to stand up new cloud or data infrastructure capability from the ground up and need help getting the basic shape of the thing right. It's also great for upskilling a team in cloud and data engineering practice, or even simply in pair programming, testing and CI/CD skills.
